Good Hood Stories

Celebrating stories of creativity, collaboration and innovation from across South Africa

2021

Curation, Research, Engagement, Communication.

In 2020 the South African Cities Network called for inspiring stories of good practice across communities and neighbourhoods in South Africa. Over 30 stories of creativity, collaboration and innovation were received from diverse cities and towns. Four projects in Durban, Gqeberha, Cape Town and Johannesburg were selected to be featured as short films because of their innovative approach to partnering. Season 1 was hosted by Our Future Cities CEO Rashiq Fataar and revealed the tenacity and spirit of the people who are driving change and having an impact on communities and lives. Season 2 documented people and projects in areas including Gugulethu (Cape Town), Tshwane, Kwamashu, Durban, Hillbrow.

Our Future Cities conducted research, engagement and site visits to better understand each initiative, produced 10 minute films for each project and designed a newspaper which included a wider array of stories and projects across South Africa.
