Your City Idea to showcase at Cape Town International Airport

Citizens of Cape Town will have another opportunity to make their vote count on public spaces in their city. The Your City Idea Installation will make its way to Cape Town International Airport on the 2nd of April between 9 am until 4 pm.

It will be the third in a series of installations to be set up in and around Cape Town. The initiative this time around, has been made possible with Future Cape Town working in collaboration with HOTT 3 Dimensional Marketing and the Airports Company of South Africa at Cape Town International Airport. The installation was previously and successfully hosted at The Bank and the MyCiTi Civic Centre Bus Station.

Visitors are encouraged to make their way to the bright yellow box and have their say on urban issues and change impacting their city. The box will display two urban questions, with each question providing four options for voters to choose from. The options will be displayed as images or future visions for Cape Town, presented in four pigeon holes.

The installation was initially designed as a temporary urban intervention as part of the build-up to the upcoming Spaza Urban Innovation Festival during Cape Town’s year as World Design Capital in 2014. The Your City Idea initiative is the first in the series of Activate projects by Future Cape Town, which seek to use structures, new and traditional media and powerful partnerships to engage citizens in different and innovative ways.
