Bold City 1.0 at the CTICC

With 8 speakers, which for the first time includes students, the third BOLD CITY conference, under the theme Future of Transport: 2013 to 2030, is expected to be an exciting forum for ideas and projects pushing innovation in transport . Tickets are on sale now and the event will take place at an iconic venue in The Fringe; The Bank at 71 Harrington Street. Our previous BOLD CITY conferences have to date welcomed close to 180 people, with over 200,000 people reached on social media at each conference.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Architect Dr. Luyanda Mphalwa will present The Future Railway Station as an Integrated Hub
  • Lloyd Martin will present his student project, a Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) system
  • Brett Herron, Mayoral Committee member for Transport for Cape Town will present Transforming public transport
  • Alexander Frehnse and Lawden Holmes, both young architects, will present The Loop Station project
  • Gail Jennings, a transportation researcher and NMT specialist, will present a vision for a future cycling network, Cycling in 2030
  • Nerudo Mregi, a User Experience Designer, will present InfoStructure – Small Investment, Big Impact on City Transport Systems
  • Rashiq Fataar, Director of Future Cape Town will present Re-thinking the network

Says Rashiq Fataar, Director of Future Cape Town: “Bold ideas are important to start a conversation about the future of transport in our city, and to shift mindsets to think more broadly about the challenges we face into the future. Our speakers, who are from diverse sectors will present both ideas and concrete proposals, with the potential to transform and redesign our city.”
