The much anticipated GUILD Design Fair by Southern Guild forms part of Cape Town’s World Design Capital 2014 events programme. Africa’s first international design fair will be held at The Lookout at The V&A Waterfront running from Friday, 28 February until 9 March 2014.
“More than just a fair for beautiful objects”, GUILD not only exhibits limited edition collectible designs from Africa, the US, South America, Britain and Europe, it also features talks, workshops, educational tours and performance shows. The fair promises to become a hub of design activity that will inspire South Africans and international visitors.
During our show this week we speak to co-founder and director of Southern Guild, Trevyn McGowan who believes that, “in the established world of collectible design South Africa has something very new to say”. Listen in as we discuss how to support local design and why the collaboration between international and local design is important for Cape Town and cities as a whole.
Also in studio our special co-host this week is the Director of Future London, Melissa Meyer, who brings us news and views from London.
