Future Cape Town to present in New York City: Rashiq Fataar, director of Future Cape Town to speak at the 2015 MAS Summit
Rashiq Fataar, founder and director of Future Cape Town and Our Future Cities will present a talk at the 6th edition of the Municipal Arts Society (MAS) Summit in New York City.
From the 4th – 6th February 2014, the city of Johannesburg was the proud host of the 5th Biennial C40 Cities Mayor’s Summit on global climate change. The event was a get together of the C40 mayors from the major and smaller cities of the world to address issues of climate change and to exchange ideas.
Young people are the future of cities, but how are they being empowered, inspired and connected to transform and shape our cities.
On Monday 30 September, Future Cape Town will be hosting our 4th summit entitled “The Long and Short of Better Streets” at the Cullinan Hotel in Cape Town. This summit will aim to look at how a city-wide conversation on improved streets, beyond the debate on Long Street, can promote implementation and action. Are we asking the right questions, and do we understand the processes which can lead to action
Future Cape Town hosted its third summit on the topic of public participation and engagement. Public engagement can be difficult, but when we brought together thought leaders from different sectors at our last summit it created a fertile ground for an amazing amount of ideas. Here we include nine ideas how to tackle public participation.
The third Future Cape Town Summit, entitled The Engaged City, took place on the 29th of July, 2013 and was hosted at the Taj Hotel Cape Town. The meeting was a small gathering of urban planning, design and architecture professionals, city officials, and NGOs with an interest in urban issues.
Future Cape Town has called for a meeting on the state of public participation in Cape Town. Entitled “Engaged City”, the purpose of the summit is to tackle the issue of public participation and engagement around urban developments and policies, and to find practical ways forward.
Future Cape Town has called for a meeting on the topic of urban sprawl on 02 May 2013. Entitled “Drawing the line on urban sprawl”, the purpose of the summit is to stimulate inclusive ideas as well as honest and rational debate on the issue, in light of recent developments proposals north of Cape Town.
For the month of October, New York becomes more than the city of dreams, but through architecture, networks and ideas makes the world a smaller place.
